Family Sponsorship

PARENTS & GRANDPARENT SPONSORSHIP

This is another popular

immigration category in Canada. Under this program, a Canadian citizen, or permanent resident can sponsor their parents or grandparents, and their dependent children for permanent residence in Canada.

Since 2017,

the Parent and Grandparent Program (PGP) introduced a lottery system for selection. Under this system, an interested sponsor submit an “interest to sponsor” form in the hopes that Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) will invite you to apply. In 2023, IRCC may open interest to sponsor form again to randomly accept  new applications.

If you receive an invitation

to apply (ITA) from IRCC, you will have 90 days from the date you receive the invitation to complete your application, and submit all the supporting information and documentation to IRCC. If you don’t receive the ITA for this year, then you can again submit an “interest to sponsor” form to sponsor your parent and grandparent the following year.
