A foreign national
planning to visit Canada on business may qualify as a business visitor. A business visitor in Canada may carry out the following activities without the need for a work permit:
- Purchasing Canadian goods or services for a foreign business or government;
- Taking orders for goods or services;
- Attending meetings, conferences, conventions or trade fairs;
- Providing after-sales service as part of a warranty or sales agreement;
- Being trained by a Canadian parent company that the visitor works for outside Canada;
- Training employees of a Canadian branch of a foreign company;
- Being trained by a Canadian company that has sold the visitor equipment or services.
Under the
Canada-United States-Mexico Agreement, a U.S. or Mexican national may also take part in other activities, such as research, marketing and general services.
To qualify as a business visitor, one must show:
- He/she plans to stay for less than 6 months;
- He/she doesn’t plan to enter the Canadian labour market;
- His/her main place of business and source of income and profits is outside Canada;
- He/she has documents that support the application for business visitor visa;
- He/she meets Canada’s basic entry requirements, namely:

2. Have enough money for your stay and to return home;
3. Plan to leave Canada at the end of the visit:
4. Is not a criminal, security or health risk to Canadians.
A business visitor needs a visitor visa or an electronic travel authorization to come to Canada.

Business Visitor Visa - Starts from CAD 1200 (Price may vary depending on the complexity of the file, or because of previous refusal(s) record).
- 1st installment CAD 600: At the time of signing the agreement.
- 2nd installment CAD 600: Before the submission of the application.
